#3 “Music For Airports” By Brian Eno
Without a doubt, Brian Eno has made some timeless solo albums.. But are any of his “ambient” albums a real joy to listen to? Unless I’m looking to question my entire existence, I tend to stay away from this one.
#2 “Twoism” By Boards of Canada
While snugly fit into my Top 5 albums of all-time, Twoism is a particularly difficult listen for me nowadays.. Clearly, much of it has to do with my strong emotional attachment to it. But it also might have something to do with the fact that tracks like “SixtyNiner” and “Smokes Quantity” contain some of the eeriest sounds ever put to tape. Even still, could this be a Desert Island album? Probably.
#1 “Glassworks” By Philip Glass
Oh, God. The surreal arrangements on this album have the power to make you feel confused about even the simplest things in your life after a couple of listens. Want to know what your real purpose is? Start by throwing this on and resisting the urge to lose your mind.
Your Thoughts?

I don’t know if Glassworks is depressing.. More insane than anything.
As for Music For Airports, nothing like putting 1-1 on repeat to help snooze away for the duration of your flight.

First-off, Twoism is all sorts of good.
#1 Whiskeytown’s Strangers Almanac would have to be on my list for me. “Avenues” and “Waiting to Derail” are all-time favorites of mine.
#2 Beck’s Sea Change is often forgotten/overlooked but it’s a great album and also sad as hell. The following lyrics attest to this for “Guess I’m Doing Fine”:
“There’s a blue bird at my window
I can’t hear the songs he sings
All the jewels in heaven
They don’t look the same to me
I just wade the tides that turned
Till I learn to leave the past behind”
#3And to finish up my list I’d have to go with Nico’s Chelsea Girl. It may not be necessarily the most depressing but something about her voice always leaves me a little wistful and doe eyed.
